Certification for IMMEX companies

Upon the publication of new Customs Reforms Laws back on December 2013, the maquiladora industry with over 6,000 companies under IMMEX program are subject to work on a «Certification program» which will allow them to continuo importing temporary materials or inputs without paying 16% VAT;
This certification process starts on April 2014 according to Rulings published on the D.O.F (Federation Official Diary) January 2014, companies may apply to three categories A, AA or AAA, according to their number of employee and investment capacity, the certification must be ready before the 2014 ends.
Companies must log in to the «Ventanilla Unica de Comercio Exterior» (VUCEM), and request for the application of the Certification in regards IVA and IEPS, must be completed with all corporate members personal information, proof of companies fiscal tax compliant and complete updated records of import-export operations, must well known as «Anexo 24»;
This new Reform to the Mexican Customs Law has the Government goal to keep on the industry only those formals and serious companies on the business.
